Of course real bacon bits are not vegan, but are imitation bacon bits vegan? Sometimes they are! See a list of brands that make vegan bacon bits below.

What are bacon bits made of?
Real bacon bits are literally pieces of pig meat, so they are definitely not vegan! They also contain additional ingredients for flavor and to preserve the meat.
But some companies also make fake bacon bits, often called imitation bacon bits.
Imitation bacon bits
Imitation bacon bits can be made from a variety of ingredients, but most that I have found are made with soy, particularly textured soy flour.
On this list, I have only included bacon bits that have been labeled as vegan by the companies making them, but there may still be some ingredients of concerns for strict vegans.
I have listed any possible concerns for strict vegans under each product below.

McCormick Bac’n Pieces
McCormick’s imitation “bacon” bits are made from flavored textured soy flour.
McCormick has responded to questions on their website and they state that these imitation bacon bits do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. So, many vegans will be okay with consuming them.
However, these imitation bacon bits do contain some ingredients that strict vegans may wish to avoid:
- Caramel color (which may be made from sugar filtered through bone char)
- Artificial color (artificial colors are periodically tested on animals)
- Disodium inosinate and guanylate are sometimes not vegan, but since McCormick has stated that there are no animal-derived ingredients, these ingredients in this product should not be from animals.

Club House Simulated Bacon Bits are made with textured soy flour and other ingredients to create a hickory smoked bacon flavor.
These bacon bits are labeled as vegan on the Club House website! But for strict vegans it is important to note that they contain artificial color, which some vegans choose to avoid due to animal testing.
You can find Club House Simulated Bacon Bits at many major grocery stores in Canada.
