    What is Vegan Body Wash?

For any product to be truly vegan, it must contain no animal-derived ingredients. It must also be cruelty-free.

This means that it can’t be tested on animals. None of the individual ingredients should be tested on animals, and neither should the final product.

How to Determine if a Body Wash is Vegan

Determining if a body wash is vegan can be tricky. First, you need to ensure that the company that makes the body wash is cruelty-free. You can look for this information on the company website, or there may be a cruelty-free certification logo on the packaging.

To make sure a company is truly cruelty-free, you want to ensure that they don’t test any of their ingredients or final products on animals. It’s also important to make sure they don’t sell their products anywhere where animal testing on cosmetic products is required by law.

Next, you’ll have to check ingredients on specific products to make sure they don’t include animal-derived ingredients. This may be specified on a website's FAQ section, or may be listed individually on each product.

If you can’t figure out if a product is vegan, you can always contact the company to ask. This seems like a frustrating step for many people, so it’s easiest just to buy products that are clearly labeled as vegan and cruelty-free.

In this post, I have done the work for you! All of the body washes listed below are vegan and from entirely cruelty-free companies.

    Top Vegan Body Washes

    Puracy Natural Body Wash

Two bottles of Puracy body wash.

Puracy makes personal care and household cleaning products that are all vegan and cruelty-free.

Something I love about them is that they focus on creating natural products that are safe and environmentally friendly, with no harsh chemicals. This means no sulfates, parabens, perfumes, dyes, and more.

All of Puracy’s products have formulas that are at least 99.3% natural as well. Puracy defines “natural” as starting from a natural, renewable source with no petroleum compounds. All of their natural ingredients are plant-derived.

Puracy’s body washes are gentle and hydrating and will leave your skin feeling silky smooth. They are great for sensitive skin as they are hypoallergenic and pH balanced.

The formula for these vegan body washes includes Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, which exfoliates and balances the skin.

    Choose from the following scents:

    • Citrus & Sea Salt
    • Coconut & Vanilla
    • Bergamot & Sandalwood

    Get Puracy body wash here.

    Jason Revitalizing Citrus Body Wash

A bottle of Jason citrus body wash.

Jason is a cruelty-free company that offers several personal care products. Some of their products contain beeswax, so not all of their stuff is vegan, however all of their body washes are vegan!

What’s great about Jason products is that they don’t contain parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or artificial colors. To ensure that their products are not irritating for most skin, Jason tests products on humans who volunteer to ensure there is only a small chance of irritation and allergic reactions.

Jason makes several different scents of body wash, all of which are vegan. The Revitalizing Citrus Body Wash is energizing and nourishing. The formula includes lemongrass extract and orange peel that will leave your skin smooth and more youthful.

Here are all of Jason’s body wash options:

    • Moisturizing Herbs & Shea Butter
    • Pampering Himalayan Pink Salt 2-in-1 Foaming Bath Soak
    • Purifying Tea Tree
    • Relaxing Chamomile & Lotus Blossom

    • Lavender
    • Lemon Verbena

    • Plum Berry

All of these vegan body washes will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. They are dermatologically-tested and have garden-inspired scents that are so refreshing!

Get Mrs. Meyer’s body wash here.

    Pacifica Strawberry Peach Body Wash

A bottle of Pacifica Strawberry Peach body wash.

Pacifica is one of my go-to companies for makeup and personal care products because everything they sell is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Many companies are becoming cruelty-free these days, but not many use only vegan ingredients in all of their products.

The Strawberry Peach Body Wash is formulated with aloe vera, strawberry, peach, and Vitamin C. It smells strongly of strawberries with a hint of peach. Several buyers have said that it has a very strong fruity scent, so if you are sensitive to scents, try a different one.

Pacifica also has the following fragrances of body wash:

    • Cannabis Flower
    • Lavender Moon
    • Coconut Cream
    • Ocean Citrus

All of Pacifica’s body washes come in plastic bottles, but they use 100% Post Consumer Recycled plastic, and it can be recycled again once you’ve used it.

    Get Pacifica body wash here.

Avalon Organics Bath & Shower Gel

A bottle of Avalon Organics body wash.

Avalon Organics makes skin care, hair care, and body care products that are all cruelty-free. They focus on creating products that are plant-based and safe to use.

All of their products are vegan except for their lip balms, which contain beeswax.

They have 3 body washes to choose from:

    • Nourishing Lavender Bath & Shower Gel: A combination of lavender essential oil, quinoa protein, aloe, and more. This body wash is perfect for dry skin and has a calming scent.
    • Refreshing Lemon Bath & Shower Gel: A combination of lemon essential oil, vitamin E, aloe, and more. This body wash purifies skin and is very refreshing.
    • Revitalizing Peppermint Bath & Shower Gel: A combination of peppermint essential oil, quinoa protein, aloe, and more. This body wash revitalizes dry skin and has an energizing scent.

All of these vegan body washes are formulated without GMOs, SLS, synthetic colors or fragrances, and phthalates.

Get Avalon Organics Bath & Shower Gel here.

The Seaweed Bath Co. Body Wash

A bottle of The Seaweed Bath Co. body wash.

The Seaweed Bath Co. is a cruelty-free company that also has several vegan body care products.

This company does not use any artificial colors, dyes, or fragrances. To keep things natural, they use essential oils to create their incredible scents.

As of the writing of this post, The Seaweed Bath Co. has 9 body washes, all of which are vegan.

The Citrus Vanilla Body Wash is a great choice. It is free of sulfates, parabens, and gluten. It contains bladderwrack seaweed with over 65 vitamins and minerals that detoxify the skin.

This body wash also contains neem oil which protects and moisturizes skin, so it’s especially great for dry skin.

Other ingredients in this body wash include spirulina, Hawaiian kukui oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera.

Get The Seaweed Bath Co. body wash here.

    Live Clean Body Wash

A bottle of Live Clean coconut milk body wash.

Live Clean makes home and body care products that are all cruelty-free and mostly vegan.

With a focus on making all of their products as safe as possible, all Live Clean items are free of SLS, parabens, phthalates, and DEA. This also reduces the risk of one of their products causing irritation.

They have 3 foaming body washes and 8 non-foaming body washes, all of which are vegan. To ensure that a Live Clean product is vegan, check the label on the back. All of their vegan products say, “Pure Vegan,” so if that is missing from the label, assume the product is not vegan.

My favorite is the Coconut Milk Moisturizing Body Wash. It is formulated with coconut milk, apricot oil, and vitamins E, C, and B. This vegan body wash will nourish and hydrate your skin, leaving it soft and moisturized.

Get Live Clean body wash here.

    Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap

A bottle of Dr. Bronner's pure castile soap.

Dr. Bronner’s is cruelty-free and most of their products are vegan (their lip balms and body balms are not). One of their most well-known products is their pure-castile liquid soap, which they claim has 18 uses!

This soap is perfect to have in your home because it is so versatile. Some uses include washing your face, body, and hair, hand-washing dishes, or doing laundry.

Dr. Bronner’s pure-castile soap is a vegetable oil-based soap that is ecological and simple. These soaps are formulated with coconut oil to create a rich lather without any sodium lauryl sulfate. They also avoid the use of dyes and synthetic fragrances.

This soap comes in 8 scents, all of which are vegan:

    • Peppermint
    • Baby Unscented
    • Lavender
    • Almond
    • Citrus
    • Tea Tree
    • Rose
    • Eucalyptus

Get Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap here.

    Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel

I love Lush products! They are all cruelty-free and many Lush products are also completely vegan.

They have several vegan body washes to choose from, but my favorite is the Rose Jam shower gel. This shower gel has a wonderful lemon-rose fragrance and it will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth.

It contains rose oil to calm the skin, sicilian lemon oil to cleanse, and soothing vanilla. It is also formulated with goji berry juice and argan oil and has a sweet floral scent that you will love!

Get Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel here.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash

A bottle of The Body Shop Tea Tree body wash.

The Body Shop is a cruelty-free company that makes face and body care products. Many of their products are vegan, but not all, so make sure you look for a vegan label when purchasing from them.

Their Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash is a vegan body wash that is great for oily and blemished skin. If you have acne on your body, this one is a great choice!

The tea tree oil in this body wash will leave you feeling refreshed and clean. It also includes lemon tea tree and tamanu oil that work to eliminate excess oil on the body.

This body wash is also paraben and silicone free.

Get The Body Shop Tea Tree Body Wash here.

    The Yellow Bird Soap Bar

A bar of The Yellow Bird soap.

The Yellow Bird makes several body care products, all of which are cruelty-free. Not all of their products are vegan, but they have many soaps that are vegan.

All of their soaps are made by hand without synthetic lathering agents, chemical preservatives, synthetic dyes, or chemical fragrances. This makes their soaps gentle enough for all skin types.

Their Activated Charcoal Lemongrass and Lavender soap bar seems to be their most popular soap. It detoxifies as the activated charcoal pulls dirt and oil from your skin.

This soap is also made with lavender essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, and shea butter. Together, these ingredients can help to clear your skin of blemishes, reduce excess oils, and moisturize the skin.
