Cinnamon Hot Chocolate with Oat Milk (Vegan)
This cinnamon hot chocolate is vegan and made with oat milk. It has a nice creamy texture and is sweetened with maple syrup.
- 1.5 cups oat milk (unsweetened)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup*
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons cacao powder or cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Add all ingredients to a small or medium sized pot and mix.
Heat the pot on the stove on medium heat, stirring occasionally. Continue heating until the hot chocolate is bubbling slightly.
Use a spoon to taste and test the temperature. When it’s hot enough, remove the pot from heat and pour the contents into a mug.
*You could start with just 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and add another if you want more sweetness. I personally like the added sweetness of 2 tablespoons.
I have tried this with coconut milk as well and the taste of coconut is too strong and overpowers the chocolate taste. You could use almond milk instead of oat milk, but it won't be as creamy.
If you want to add a peppermint taste to your hot chocolate, add a candy cane or some peppermint extract.
